Join hospital leaders, C-level management and other change makers in healthcare on 11-12 September in Hanoi.

For the first time in Hospital Management Asia (HMA) history, there will be a Ministers of Health Panel to discuss healthcare reforms and how hospitals can help to achieve them.

  • Madam Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Minister of Health for Vietnam

  • YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health for Malaysia

  • Dr. Kidong Park, Country Representative – Vietnam, World Health Organization

  •
HMA, the region’s leading conference for hospital leaders, C-level management and other change-makers in healthcare, will take place on 11-12 September in Hanoi. View the latest agenda and register to learn how healthcare ministries and public hospitals can address different aspects of hospital management, and strike a balance between cost effectiveness, good outcomes, and high quality care.

Why the need for reform?

In most parts of Asia, the public hospital sector is underdeveloped and unable to meet changing community needs. Various factors account for this, including insufficient financial and policy support, poor incentives and manpower challenges.

Due to rapidly ageing populations and increasing prevalence of chronic and non-communicable diseases in this region, public health reform is becoming more critical. Hospitals should look at the ‘triple aim’ framework developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement as part of their reform agenda. This way, they are able to improve quality of care and population health and manage costs to enforce best practices and make improvements through innovation.

What’s more, the public-private partnership model has proven effective for hospital improvement and redesigning workflows, both of which are fundamental for transforming healthcare. HMA will be an essential platform for private hospitals, public hospitals, healthcare ministries and solutions providers to connect, network and collaborate.
Topics for managing public hospitals include:

  • Adapting to international guidelines to improve patient safety and health

  • A financial perspective on the best ways to implement universal health care

  • How to train management and middle managers in handling finances to improve financial outcomes

  • Cost efficiency vs. cost reduction

  • Recruiting, retaining and developing talent to improve hospital services

  • Building patient trust and providing the best service and care

  • Handling a large population's demand with limited resources and ensure the best outcomes

  • How public-private and private-private partnerships are implemented in different countries to improve outcomes
