Jakarta plans to publish government property online

The Jakarta Government will publish its assets, such as property, online from this year, Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has said.

“The public shall know about the city’s assets including the size, location, map and official owner of each asset”, he said.

“We aim for all working units and city-owned enterprises to finish entering data regarding the capital’s immovable assets in the electronic system this year,” he added.

The announcement comes on the same day that the Governor dismissed the housing agency head over allegations of corruption in a land purchase worth 668 billion rupiah (US$50.8 million).

Assets documented under the Financial Asset Management Board has been disorganised, the Deputy Governor added, according to the Jakarta Post.

Agencies were not clear about whether they could buy particular pieces of land because it lacked documentation.

Thousands of assets in Jakarta remain uncertified, he added, and the government risked losing assets if they were not properly tracked.
