Countries also signed cyber security agreement.
Malaysia and India will exchange lessons on delivering and monitoring public sector projects. The agreement was announced today as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ends a three-day visit to Malaysia. Malaysia wants to learn from India on managing infrastructure projects like highways and high-speed railways, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said.
“The construction of roads [in India] had been implemented much faster than before from 2km to 18km per day”, he said. Malaysia’s Performance Management and Delivery Unit will work with the National Institution for Transforming India on project management.
The countries signed another agreement to share information on cyber security attacks, strategies and technologies. Cyber Security Malaysia and the Indian Computer Response Team will take the lead here. India and Malaysia will also “arrange regular exchanges” between their ministers of trade, transport, public works and infrastructure, they said in a joint statement.
Prime Minister Modi wants Malaysian businesses to invest in India’s 100 Smart Cities projects. The Malaysian government in October proposed to invest $30 billion in Indian capital New Delhi and Garhmukteshwar in Uttar Pradesh state.
