The government has launched Digital Hub and Tech Entrepreneur programmes.

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDeC) has launched a Digital Hub programme to provide startups with the resources they need to grow, it was announced.

It has also launched the Malaysia Tech Entrepreneur Programme (MTEP) to attract entrepreneurs from all over the world to set up their startups in Malaysia.

The Malaysian government has so far approved three hubs, located at co-working spaces in Klang Valley. The hubs will focus their efforts on four categories: growing startups, global tech companies, accelerators and talent builders and investors.

Startups in particular will be given corporate tax exemptions, an opportunity to expand globally, access to high-speed broadband and fibre optic connectivity, and funding opportunities, among other incentives.

MDeC has also partnered with private companies such as Microsoft and Maybank to provide training and mentorship to these startups. “A startup journey is both rewarding and challenging.

Realising this, we have been working with MDEC and private sectors to structure the Malaysia Digital Hub,” said YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance, in a press release.
