Paper shares advice for governments to build digitally literate nations.

Citizens and civil servants today need more digital and broad-based skills to drive their nations forward. A new paper by Microsoft sets out recommendations for policymakers to achieve this.

Importantly, in increasingly digital economies, everyone must have some digital literacy to keep the country safe and build trust. Some of the eight recommendations include:

  • Appoint an agency to drive digital literacy
  • Fund research to advance internet safety
  • Increase access to computer education
  • Run dedicated campaigns for public awareness
