How can officials prevent budget overruns?

By Microsoft

Digital tracking of projects has helped cut overspending, study shows.

Digital tools can help organisations ensure that projects are delivered within their planned budgets and timelines, a study has shown.

The study by Forrester Consulting and Microsoft shows that digital tools can help managers better track the performance of their projects.

It allows them to make timely decisions and address issues as they arise to prevent project delays and overruns.

Better visibility of projects’ performance helped reduce budget overruns by 5%, leading to savings of $2.6 million over three years, the study found.

A single integrated platform can improve management across all projects, the report finds, and help communicate better with all project stakeholders.

Decision-makers can get a greater understanding of the available resources, and plan ahead for the scarce ones through project and portfolio management.
