How New Orleans cut emergency response times

A connected emergency system uses analytics to save time.

Every second counts during an emergency. The City of New Orleans in the US is using analytics to help officials make quicker decisions during emergencies. A case study by Microsoft shows how the city has shortened emergency response times. It has connected all emergency responders, like police, medical and fire, and 911 dispatchers under one system. The system automatically routes calls to the right dispatcher and alerts the closest emergency personnel. On the ground, information is sent in real-time to tablets used by paramedics and police mobile terminals. Emergency medical personnel can directly contact relevant police officers without having to be routed through a separate system.
