In 2017, there were 1,370 terrorist attacks globally, while US$306 billion of economic losses were caused by natural disasters.

"Terrorism remains the top concern for most public safety agencies globally, but governments need to fight common crimes too," says Hong Eng Koh, Global Chief Public Safety Scientist of Huawei Technologies and former tech chief of Singapore’s Police Force.

As the global rates of terrorism and natural disasters rise rapidly, governments need to power up to protect their citizens and save more lives. In developing nations, this hits even harder: infrastructure needs to be rebuilt and lives put back together, piece by piece.
