Malaysia launches government-wide data sharing platform

The MyGDX platform will be a “data brokerage service”, aggregating data from one agency and allowing others to use it. This will allow data to be shared more efficiently, Director General of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit said.
It “could not only avoid overlapping and waste of resources, but more important is its success in facilitating the public in dealing with government agencies," Datuk Dr Mazlan Yusoff said at the soft launch on 15 January.
Ten government agencies will be the first to use the platform, including the Public Service Department, National Registration Department, Social Welfare Department, Malaysian Examinations Council and National Higher Education Fund Corporation.
It will make Malaysia’s public service delivery more “comprehensive and inclusive” as agencies will have access to more data from “authentic sources”, Mazlan added.
MyGDX will be expanded to potentially all government services, he said.
