What are the top priorities of Singapore’s polytechnic IT chiefs?

Training colleges in Singapore are prioritizing data analytics this year to improve their teaching.


With the Smart Nation agenda and SkillsFuture program, more training will be available online, and learning will be more flexible with shorter courses.


This is useful both for young people and also for those seeking a career change in the middle years.


We caught up with Lee Foo Wah, Divisional Director of Information Technology, at the Institute of Technical Education to find out his priorities for the year ahead.


What technology are you most excited about in 2016? I am most excited about Analytics and Big Data.


How does Smart Nation affect your agency? We are currently in the experimentation stage - trialing out new approaches.


What is the biggest challenge that you had to overcome in 2015? Governance, compliance, and increased security measures are the top three.


What is your key priority in 2016? My key priority is modernizing and using digital technology.


As a lighter question, how do you like to unwind after a long week at work? I enjoy going to the gym and swimming.
