Singapore appoints another Minister to work on Smart Nation

Dr Janil Puthucheary joins Dr Vivian Balakrishnan in the Smart Nation Programme Office.

Singapore has sworn in Dr Janil Puthucheary as the second minister in charge of the Smart Nation initiative.

He will assist Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan in the Smart Nation Programme Office.

Dr Puthucheary was also sworn in as Minister of State for Education, and Communications and Information last week. He started working in these new roles on 1 January this year.

Dr Puthucheary is a Senior Consultant at the Children’s Intensive Care unit at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He has been Assistant Professor and Medical Director of Faculty Development at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.
