Using smart watches to find Parkinson’s cure

Parkinson's is one of the most common diseases crippling the brain, and it is still incurable.


Parkinson's disease is the second most common disorder that causes a progressive loss of function of neurons and muscle and it is incurable A key challenge is that researchers today don’t have enough data to experiment with.


Intel is working together with the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to collect and analyze data through wearables. A smartwatch paired with a mobile app can measure the activity level, tremor, gait detection, and sleeping patterns of the user.


The hope is that this data will lead to a cure for the disease.
