Can data science address public transport woes?

By GovInsider

Liu Feng Yuan, Singapore’s data science director, will speak his mind at Innovation Labs World.

The problem with public transport is that routes are fixed. “Cars and taxis are more flexible, but also more expensive.

And from a sustainability point of view, taxis and cars aren’t good because of congestion”, says Liu Feng Yuan, director of government analytics at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.

To solve the dilemma, the government has crafted a nifty solution, called Beeline - a merge between ride-sharing apps and public transport - to ease citizens’ daily commute woes.

How does the government leverage crowd data and IoT to improve transport services? On the 27th of this month, Liu will share more about his team’s work, and how they cook up ideas for innovative transport solutions at Innovation Labs World.

The event is free for all civil servants, and showcases top and innovative practices in public services across data, design and digital concepts. If this has piqued your interest, fill in your particulars in the signup form below.
