Government evaluating proposal by police chief.

The Malaysian Government is discussing how robots and drones can be used in the police force.

"We will evaluate the matter but it is subject approval and budgeting by the Finance Ministry," said Home Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Ministry is evaluating a proposal by Royal Malaysian Police Inspector-General Khalid Abu Bakar to buy robots and drones.

The machines would improve law enforcement by cutting human errors in policing, he said earlier this week, according to Malay Mail Online. Police officers are already being trained to handle drones, which will be used to monitor public rallies, the website reported.

“We will execute this soonest once there is an allocation from the Finance Ministry," Ahmad Zahid added.
