Countries to collaborate on research and development of technology.

Malaysia’s national research agency has agreed a deal with a Chinese company on smart manufacturing, it has been announced. MIMOS will exchange expertise with China’s Shanghai Changda Investment Management and a local consulting company.

The agreement will give businesses in both countries an opportunity to jointly research and develop manufacturing technologies. “As our economies are powered by manufacturing, it is critical for the two countries to align through R&D collaboration in the development of smart manufacturing”, said Datuk Abdul Wahab Abdullah, MIMOS President and CEO.

In July, Malaysia launched a national IoT plan with manufacturing as a priority area. The country is looking to use sensors, data and software to increase productivity and drive economic growth.
