Deadline extended in hunt for brilliant public service projects

United Nations calls for nominations for global public service awards.
The United Nations has extended its deadline to submit nominations for the global Public Service Awards. The award recognises leading government agencies around the world.
Agencies now have until 17 March midnight, Eastern Standard Time to submit their nominations.
The awards recognise achievements by agencies in four categories: improving the delivery of public services; fostering participation in policy-making decisions; promoting whole-of-government approaches in the information age; and promoting gender responsive delivery for public services.
All public organisations can submit nominations, including governments and public institutions involved in partnerships with the private sector for delivering services.
“Public servants can help find better ways to reach the poorest and most vulnerable and respond to their needs,” said Wu Hongbo (pictured), Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs at the UN.he added.
The awards will be given out on 23 June during the UN Public Service Forum at The Hague, Netherlands.
