GovInsider to launch mapping initiative for global digital government space

By Yogesh Hirdaramani

Digital government approaches are increasingly ubiquitous around the world, with countries adopting a range of digital transformation strategies. As a leading voice for public sector innovation, GovInsider is embarking on an ambitious crowdsourcing project to map digital government organisations globally.

From central digitalisation units to decentralised digital transformation spanning federal, state, and local governments, public sector digital transformation initiatives have become ubiquitous around the world.

As a leading voice covering public sector innovation, GovInsider will be launching a digital government directory (DigiGov) that maps key digital government organisations globally on 26 March 2024, a day before our flagship event, Festival of Innovation, which will feature digital government initiatives from around the world.

The directory aims to spotlight the key agencies, non-governmental players, and other voices driving digital government initiatives around the world. Users can click through the interactive map to find stories on various digital transformation initiatives around the world, searchable by agency and country, and get a quick overview of who’s who, what’s happening, and what’s coming up next.

Digital government approaches will be critical towards solving the biggest challenges of the coming years, from managing the next pandemic to tackling the climate crisis and creating accessible, inclusive and secure digital services that meet the everyday needs of people.

66 countries featured, with more to come

But practitioners, academics, civil society actors, and thought leaders need to be able to connect with one another and find each other – and we hope this resource will help.

Our initial launch features the key digitalisation agencies of 66 countries, as well as 10 new stories from countries with innovative approaches, from Estonia to Bangladesh to Cabo Verde. These stories showcase key principles, technologies, and approaches that these governments have taken in their digital transformation.

We hope to partner with you, the GovInsider community, to grow this map from a snapshot of the digital government landscape to a thriving and living community resource.
