Recent survey of Asian cities reveals citizens’ expectations.
Technology is best used by city governments to improve communications, residents in Asian cities believe.
Providing information to residents about city services, and improving communications between people and the city were the two most popular uses for technology - receiving 80% and 79% agreement, respectively.
This was revealed in a recent study by Microsoft of 2,012 people across cities in 10 Asian countries. Jakarta, Manila, and Delhi/Mumbai were most supportive of the need for better information and communications, the study found.
“There are more needs emerging in the public sector – in both local and central government – to further reflect the voices and needs and complaints from those growing up,” said Kim Cheang-beom, Ambassador for International Relations of the Seoul Metropolitan Government at the World Cities Summit.
