The NUH myMeds mobile app reminds patients to take their meds and shortens waiting times at the pharmacy.
Patients of the National University Hospital (NUH) can now skip the queues and reorder medication, set mobile alerts to keep track of their medication schedule and provide information about the medication they are using. One of the biggest problems pharmacists face is the lack of medication adherence which may lead to serious consequences.
To address such challenges, a team of pharmacists at the hospital worked together to develop the NUH myMeds mobile application to improve accessibility to medication-related information, improve medication adherence through push notifications and shorten waiting times at the pharmacy in person for refilling prescriptions.
After the launch of NUH myMeds, the application garnered over 6,000 active users since its launch. The medications list was the most popular function, garnering over 30% of total viewership hits within the next two years.
NUH won the Excellence Award for the Innovations in Healthcare Technology Project category during the Asian Hospital Management Awards in 2018. This award category recognises best practices for improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery with the use of technology.
The Asian Hospital Management Awards, now in its 18th year, is a prestigious ceremony which recognises and honours hospitals in the Asia Pacific for best practices to improve healthcare.
The deadline for submission for this year’s edition is 31 May 2019. Early birds who submit on or before 30 April 2019 will receive TWO free entries. Winners will be announced during the Gala Night at Hospital Management Asia 2019 on 12 September.
