Time taken for legal work could be cut from 90 days to five.
Indonesia will launch an online service to make setting up of cooperatives easier. Cooperatives will be able to register themselves online, cutting time spent on legal work from 90 days to five days.
“The system can be accessed and will be fully operational in April 2016,” said Choirul Djamhari, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives & SMEs.
The service will allow faster checks for registered names of cooperatives. To enable this, the government has centralized data on cooperatives in the backend.
Cooperatives are an important source of livelihood in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Over 33 million people in the country are members of cooperatives.
