MDEC launches scheme for business executives.
Malaysia’s digital economy agency has tied up with Harvard Business School to train citizens with data skills.
The scheme by MDEC is aimed at helping senior management in companies to understand the value of data analytics. They learn how to experiment with data and use predictive analytics to improve business efficiency. They look at how big data can be used for marketing, supply chain, and human resources.
They also explore how to recruit and develop data-savvy talent.
“This is a crucial milestone for us in our efforts to nurture local data professionals and to build a robust [big data analytics] ecosystem to benefit all sectors of Malaysia’s digital economy,” said Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, CEO of MDEC.
The first batch completed the four-day program yesterday with 53 participants.
This is a “useful bridge between a participant’s knowledge about Big Data and a real-life situation” where they may require some technical skills to apply the data, said Professor Karim Lakhani, Associate Professor at Harvard Business School.
