Singapore’s cyber security agency holds first drill

The Singapore Government today held a cyber security exercise to prepare for large-scale cyber attacks.

The drill was the first led by the Cyber Security Agency (CSA), and aims to train for attacks, like malware and distributed denial of service, which could bring down agencies’ networks.

Government agencies involved in the Cyber Star exercise were the Infocomm Development Authority, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and the Energy Market Authority.

Four private sector companies also took part in the banking, telecommunications, security, and energy sectors.

“The exercise provided an opportunity for sectors to understand each other’s processes and capabilities and allow us to validate the effectiveness of cross-sector cooperation,“ said David Koh, Chief Executive of CSA.

CSA, which is just under a year old, also launched a new Cyber Forensics Laboratory today.
