How to prevent IoT sensors getting hacked

By GovInsider

Greater scrutiny needed for IoT devices.

Could sensors in people’s homes be used to spy on them? Or can hackers take control of traffic sensors?

Devices connected through the Internet of Things don’t always get the level of scrutiny that they should, a recent research report by IBM has found. Hackers are using old techniques - some dating back to before the internet existed - to find weaknesses in sensors.

They are sweeping across sensor networks, gathering data on how devices are being used. This gives them access to private user data and could be used to remotely control appliances.
