Former Air Asia executive gets the role.

Malaysia’s Multimedia Development Corporation has appointed former AirAsia executive, Siva Ramanathan, as its Chief Strategy Officer.

Ramanathan, who started in the role this month, is responsible for “driving strategy and planning as well as transformation and change management for MDeC”, the agency said.

MDeC is responsible for growing the country’s use of digital technologies through its Digital Malaysia program, and is now planning new targets for the project past 2020. Before the move to MDeC, Ramanathan was business development director at AirAsia, responsible for growing the airline’s long-haul flights.

Before this, he spent 11 years with Malaysian investor Usaha Tegas, managing mergers and acquisitions between companies.
