Women in GovTech Special Report 2016.

How do you use technology to improve citizens' lives? Tell us about your role or organisation.

My team manages and oversees the central infrastructure programmes for the whole of government. We use technology to facilitate public officers’ collaborations with one another, to host their applications for citizens to access and also to correspond promptly with the citizens.

What has been the most exciting thing that you worked on in 2016?

We are exploring technology for a modern data centre and incorporating it in the design of the next update to the Government data centre, enabling more efficient public service delivery to citizens.

What tool or technique particularly interests you for 2017?

That would be the different cloud technologies as well as the integration of e-mail with collaboration tools and personal productivity tools.

If you were to share one piece of advice that you learned in 2016, what would it be?

When faced with a seemingly tight schedule, do not discount your ability to achieve it. Instead, work as a team with your contractors, your stakeholders and your own team closely. You will be surprised that you can achieve the end goal within the same schedule you once thought was tight and not do-able.

Who is your hero and why?

There are many heroes out there who inspire me; in fact there are just too many for me to name only one!

And finally, if you could recommend us one place to eat, where would it be?

My family absolutely loves Angus Steakhouse at Ngee Ann City. Even its well-done steak is so tender and juicy. Their bread is so piping hot and fresh that I always asked for more servings, and now they have limited each person to only two! The tiramisu dessert also tastes heavenly. They change their desserts of the day, but for regulars like me, we always request for the tiramisu cake.
