1. How do you use technology/policy to improve citizens’ lives? Tell us about your role or organisation.

Technology and policy are intrinsically linked, with policies setting the framework for how technology should be applied to improve governance and citizen services.

In my role as Senior Digital Services Manager at GovTech Singapore’s Government Digital Transformation group, I oversee the implementation of digital solutions that bring tangible benefits to customers by ensuring that technology supports the efficient delivery of public services.

2. What was the most impactful project you worked on this year?

One of the most impactful projects I worked on this year involved scaling a product designed to streamline government operations through inter-agency collaboration.

This product reduces repetitive information-sharing and administrative burdens, while enhancing data accuracy and operational efficiency.

With features like centralised data management and customisable workflows, it enables agencies to better meet diverse business needs, fosters innovation, and ultimately improves the quality of services delivered to customers.

3. What was one unexpected learning from 2024?

In 2024, an unexpected yet invaluable learning was the importance of taking time to slow down, reflect, and strategise in managing change effectively.

By pausing to assess progress, recalibrate priorities, and focus on what truly matters, I found that I was able to make more informed decisions and foster creativity in problem-solving.

This approach not only helped me adapt to new challenges but also allowed me to identify opportunities for growth, turning potential obstacles into avenues for innovation and transformation.

4. What’s a tool or technique you’re excited to explore in 2025?

In 2025, I am particularly excited to continue exploring the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing project outcomes.

AI’s ability to analyse vast amounts of data and predict trends, offers transformative possibilities for improving public sector services.

Having completed the Strategic Leadership with AI and ML program at SMU, I look forward to leveraging AI to drive greater efficiencies and deliver innovative solutions that create value for customers.

5. Everybody’s talking about AI today – give us your hot take on AI and what it means for the public sector.

AI is rapidly becoming a critical tool, where its potential to enhance service is immense.

As we embrace AI, it is important to balance innovation with thoughtful policy to ensure that the technology serves the greater good without compromising privacy or equity.

6. What are your priorities for 2025?

My priority for 2025 is to continue delivering value to customers by ensuring that every project I undertake is aligned with their needs and aspirations.

While technology serves as a powerful tool, I see it as a means to an end, not the end itself. The goal is to create solutions that have a direct and meaningful impact on customers’ lives.

I will continue to focus on prioritising outcomes that matter, ensuring that technology’s potential is maximised to drive tangible benefits for all.

7. What advice do you have for public sector innovators?

For public sector innovators, my advice is to foster a culture of innovation that aligns with public values and goals.

Innovation must be driven by the desire to improve lives and create value.

Building trust and engaging stakeholders early on is essential to driving sustainable and impactful change.

8. Who inspires you today?

Lee Kuan Yew’s legacy continues to inspire me through his vision, resilience, and commitment to progress.

His leadership transformed Singapore into a global economic powerhouse, demonstrating the power of strategic thinking, adaptability, and pragmatic action.

His belief in meritocracy, discipline, and the importance of education has shaped my leadership approach, guiding me to empower others and make decisions based on integrity and long-term impact.

Lee Kuan Yew’s focus on public service and his unwavering dedication to the greater good continue to motivate me to lead with purpose, striving to create meaningful change for society.
